Up to II World War part of Kaunas inhabitants were Jews. There left old Jews cemetery: Vilijampole (begining of XVIII century) , Žaliakalnis (XIX century), Panemune (from XVII century, only 3 gravestones are visible). Cemetery are open for visitors.
Lithuanian-Jewish painter Yakov Messenblum [Jacques Missene] is buried in Žaliakalnis cemetery.
