Žalgiris Arena - the biggest in the Baltics, one of the biggest in Europe

The arena's maximum possible seating capacity for basketball games is 15,552, and 20,000 spectators for concerts (when the stage is in the middle, and 17,000 when stage is in the side of the arena). 
Kaunas basketball team Žalgiris Euroleague and Lithuanian League Baskteball matches plays in  the Žalgirs arena.
The Žalgiris Arena has held the playoffs and finals of the 37th European Basketball Championship, which took place in September 2011.
 Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lenny Kravitz,Sting, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Rammstein, Slash, Marilyn Manson, Katie Melua, Prodigy, James Blunt, Hurts, Jean Michel Jarre,  Zucchero, Sarah Brightman, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Iron Maiden, Mariah Carey, Muse and other world class stars hosted concerts here.

Forum cinemas is located in the shopping centre Akropolis ((Karaliaus Mindaugo pr. 49) in Kaunas central part. 
Cinamon kinas is located in the shopping centre Mega (Islandijos pl. 32)  - in Kaunas outskirts.

Leisure parks and activities in Kaunas

​There are several parks in Kaunas. They are great choice for those who want to relax in the nature,.

Santakos park is located near the Old Town in the confluence of the Nemunas River and the Neris River. You  will find the monument dedicated to the Pope John Paul II to commemorate his visit to Kaunas in 1993 and the mass he held  in Santakos park.

Ąžuolynas (Oak Grove) park near Kaunas Zoo. 
Panemunė Šilas (Pinewood) park – a good place to ride a bike, to relax in nature, to do sports, to relax in 2 beaches near the Nemunas River. The park is located in Kaunas district named Aukštoji Panemunė.

Kaunas becomes a cyclist friendly city. New bike paths are being opened and old ones are renovated. Click here for Kaunas bike roads map.

​Orange bike rental (Citybee) spots  are near Kaunas Castle, Town Hall square, Kaunas Municipality (Laisvės avenue), Vytautas the Great University (Donelaičio str.), Akropolis shopping centre, Žalgiris arena, Kaunas Camp Inn and many other places.

​Beaches

There are several beaches in Kaunas  to spend your time in summer. 
The beach near Kaunas camping (Raudondvario road. 161A). Modern, clean, renting of sunbeds, beach bar, clean water during all summer.  You can rent canoes, water bikes or waterboards. A wakeboard park has a track which a length of 287m.
A beach of Kaunas Lagoon. T. Masiulio str. 21A, Kaunas 52430. You will find dressing cabins, children  playground, small boat rental here. Because of green algae a quality of water is very poor in the second half  of summer.
There are two beaches on the bank of the Nemunas River in Panemune Pinewood Park.
The beach that is situated near a Panemune pedestrian bridge is easy to reach by  foot walking from a shopping center "Molas" (K. Baršausko str. 66A). No dressing cabins there.
Panemune beach (A. Smetonos ave. 4, Kaunas 45324) is a brand  new beach with many activities for adults and children, coffee shop, dressing cabins.

THE TALLEST AQUARIUM IN THE BALTIC STATES
​
There are over 30 different tropical species of fish in the aquarium; they include fish from the Atlantic, Indian and the Pacific Oceans, and the Mediterranean and the Caribbean Seas. The corals in the aquarium came from South Africa. The aquarium is home to six sharks from the Caribbean Sea.
